It may have been destined for incorporation into a poem, a letter, or a longer pensée; it may have been excerpted from a longer composition, perhaps a letter, since lost or destroyed; alternatively, it may be an experiment in aphoristic form. Dickinson appears to have canceled the word "also" during the initial drive of composition.
